Another attempt at getting sleep was covering all the windows in my apartment with layers of cardboard boxes to block out the sun and wearing sleeping masks. I had no air conditioning and with the windows closed and covered it was like an oven. I would soak myself with ice water, turn on 2 box fans and try to pass out while I was cool. I could usually sleep about an hour.
